Terms of Service
Version 1.0. Last updated: October 2026
These terms apply to your use of MediRec, the website at app.medirec.ca and the MediRec apps for iPhone and Android. MediRec is operated by MediRec Health Staffing, a division of Can-Rec Ltd., Mississauga, Ontario. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
What MediRec does
MediRec is a marketplace. Healthcare facilities post shifts, and verified healthcare workers and staffing agencies find and fill them. We provide the platform that connects them, verifies credentials, records shifts and hours, and handles invoicing and payment where the service offers it.
Your account
You must be at least 18 and give accurate information, including your name, role, licence or registration details and facility details. Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and you should tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it. One person or organisation may hold one account per role.
Workers
You may only accept shifts you are qualified, licensed and fit to work. You must keep your credentials current and upload genuine documents. MediRec may refuse, suspend or remove an account whose credentials cannot be verified or have lapsed. When you accept a shift you commit to working it. Cancelling late or not showing up can affect your rating and your access to future shifts.
Facilities
A facility account is reviewed before it can post shifts. Shift details, including role, date, time, location and rate, must be accurate. You are responsible for the workplace, for orienting workers to it, and for confirming the hours worked within the time the platform allows. Cancelling a filled shift late may carry a charge.
Agencies
An agency partner may manage its own workers on MediRec and review shifts sent to it. It remains responsible for the workers it places and for its obligations to them.
Rates, fees and payment
Each shift shows its hourly rate before it is accepted. MediRec charges a service fee or commission on shifts filled through the platform, which is shown or agreed before the shift is confirmed. Hours are paid as confirmed through the platform. If hours are disputed, both sides may be asked for details before payment is released.
Independent relationship
Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, MediRec does not employ workers and does not direct their clinical practice. Facilities make their own hiring and scheduling decisions, and workers use their own professional judgement and follow the standards of their regulatory college.
Acceptable use
Do not misrepresent yourself, upload false documents, harass anyone, scrape or copy the service, try to get around its security, or use it to arrange shifts off the platform to avoid its fees. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Account settings in the app or on the website. Some records, such as completed shifts, invoices and verification history, may be kept where the law or our record keeping requires it, as the Privacy Policy explains.
Liability
MediRec provides the platform as it is. We work to keep it available and accurate but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error free. To the extent the law allows, MediRec is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the acts of workers, facilities or agencies who use the platform.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service changes. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use MediRec after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
